BRAWA to celebrate 30 Years of service at annual Shake Your Paw Ball

GLASGOW, Ky. – The Barren River Animal Welfare Association (BRAWA) is preparing to celebrate two milestones later this month with its 16th annual ‘Shake Your Paw Ball’ and the organization’s 30th anniversary of serving south-central Kentucky.

The annual fundraiser will take place July 25 at the Cave Area Conference Center and will feature a catered dinner, a silent auction, live music by The Unpredictables and a cash bar.

Organizers say proceeds from the event will directly support BRAWA’s mission of caring for homeless animals throughout the Barren River region.

“All of the money we receive comes back to BRAWA,” said board member Babette Portillo. “We use those funds for our adoption and spay-and-neuter programs. Every dog and cat is spayed or neutered before leaving our facility.”

Portillo said the event also provides an opportunity to connect with community members and raise awareness about the organization’s work.

“We get to meet people we don’t normally have the chance to reach,” she said. “It helps them understand what BRAWA is all about and why our mission is so important.”

BRAWA has spent the past three decades rescuing, caring for and finding permanent homes for stray and abandoned animals across the region. Organizers say the annual gala not only celebrates that work but also helps ensure the shelter can continue serving animals and families for years to come.

The ‘Shake Your Paw Ball’ begins July 25 at the Cave Area Conference Center.
