Bowling Green Veterans Alliance Center desperate for food donations; food drive this Saturday
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Roy Waddle served in Germany during the Vietnam war for a year.
“I try to forget it, but it comes back every once in a while,” said Waddle.
Roy was just recently diagnosed with recurrent lung and liver cancer.
Because of the Veterans Alliance Center’s donations, his burden slightly lessened, as he soldiered up once again to battle cancer.
Without donations, The Veterans Alliance Center won’t be able to keep helping heroes like Roy.
The director of the Veterans Alliance Center Bob Belcher said they are in dire need of non-perishable food. This Saturday, the organization is hosting a Food, Clothing and Monetary Drive where they desperately need donations.
Regarding his time as a soldier, Waddle said “It’s just a memory, but it’s a good memory. I’m proud to be a soldier. I’m proud to serve my country.”
The VAC Food, Clothing and Monetary Drive will take place Saturday, June 26th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fairview Plaza shopping center in front of the store. Volunteers will also collect funds at Cone Funeral Home.
