Bowling Green receives grant to help with COVID-19 costs
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The COVID-19 crisis has put a financial strain on government agencies from the federal level on down to the local level. Now, Bowling Green is receiving a financial boost from the federal government.
Yesterday, the city was awarded a grant totaling $98,376 from the United States Department of Justice. The money will be used to purchase personal protective equipment such as masks and gloves to be worn to protect front-line workers like police officers.
Local officials were pleased with how quickly the process moved along, having only applied for the grant about three weeks ago.
Bowling Green Mayor Bruce Wilkerson said first responders are happy to receive the grant. The grant money has not been received yet. According to Mayor Wilkerson, there’s still a bit more paperwork involved before the money is actually disbursed.
