Bowling Green man charged with sexual abuse offenses involving minor

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing sexual abuse charges involving a minor.

According to the Bowling Green Police Department, officers arrested 42-year-old Anthony Abney of Bowling Green following an investigation involving alleged sexual abuse of a juvenile.

On Aug. 15, officers say they were contacted regarding a 14-year-old who was reportedly “involved in a sexual relationship with Abney while the juvenile was living at his residence.”

Police say the teen was removed from the residence and placed into protective custody.

During an interview by the Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center, authorities say the juvenile victim “disclosed alleged sexual activity involving Abney.”

Authorities say on Wednesday morning, detectives contacted Abney regarding the investigation and took him into custody.

Abney was transported to the Warren County Regional Jail. He remains incarcerated on multiple charges, including first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor – illegal sex act, under 16 years of age, third-degree sodomy and third-degree rape.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities say they anticipate more charges.
