Bowling Green man arrested on charges related to reckless driving
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Bowling Green police arrested a man Friday after multiple vehicles were damaged from reckless driving.
On Friday, June 3 around 9:04 p.m., a Bowling Green Police Department officer was dispatched and responded to the 1000 block of College Street in reference to an injury collision.
Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the driver of the vehicle, Sadmir Beganovic, 34, of Bowling Green.
According to police, Beganovic said he was driving his vehicle southbound on College Street when a tired failed. Beganovic lost control of the vehicle and struck a parked, unoccupied vehicle at the driver’s side. Beganovic’s vehicle continued soutbound, where it struck a second vehicle at the rear passenger side. Police stated the rate of speed caused the second vehicle to exit the road and overturn, hitting a mounted drop box and a third parked, unoccupied vehicle at the back driver’s side taillight.
The second vehicle sustained very severe damage, and the third vehicle sustained minor damage.
Beganovic said he was the only occupant of his vehicle at the time of the accident and that he was not wearing a seat belt.
Beganovic was transported to the Medical Center at Bowling Green for evaluation and treatment.
During the investigation, police found tire skid marks on College Street in the area prior to Beganovic’s vehicle colliding with the first vehicle, stated BGPD. Police stated speed is believed to be a contributing factor since there was no substantial evidence showing Beganovic’s tire failed prior to the crash.
According to BGPD, officers obtained video footage from City Hall that was facing college Street, which shows Beganovic’s vehicle traveling on College Street at a high rate of speed just prior to collision.
The investigation would later determine that there were three additional passengers in Beganovic’s vehicle. The juvenile passengers were taken from the scene by other drivers and brought to their residence. The mother of the juvenile passengers brought them to the Medical Center at Bowling Green since they had multiple minor injuries from the accident.
Beganovic was charged with wanton endangerment, first degree, criminal mischief, first degree, criminal mischief, second degree, criminal mischief, third degree and reckless driving.
