Bowling Green company travels for job fair; Bendix on a job hiring spree
CAVE CITY, Ky. – Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems is in the process of visiting four different locations for their first ever traveling job fair.
June 23 marked the second stop in Cave City. Company representatives will set up for applications Friday in Franklin at The Cornerstone (202 W. Kentucky Avenue) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Morgantown at the Butler County Area Tech Center (178 Academic Way) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as well.
The Bowling Green based company is looking for assemblers, forklift and machine operators and CNC/machinists. They are hiring workers willing to work full time shifts immediately.
Tyler and Christian Chapman are a father-son duo who both started looking for a change in pace when the pandemic altered their jobs.
Tyler said, “The pandemic has completely changed the way business is concocted. And um, it’s just something the small guy hasn’t been able to roll with those punches, I guess.”
Tyler Chapman is a father of four who is struggling to tie his life as a father in with his life as a breadwinner.
“They have activities three days a week, and it’s really hard to find something that works around their schedule,” said Tyler.
He said he saw a first shift position as machine operator listed, and he drove straight to Cave City to apply.
Tyler’s son Christian spent the morning with his Dad. He just became a father himself, and his motivations are the same as his old man’s.
“I would be able to actually see my son a lot more, actually, and spend a lot more time with my family,” said Christian.
Bendix Recruiter Molly Thomas says the company is on a hiring spree right now. She says helping people like Tyler and Christian brings a smile to her face.
“Maybe they’ve been unemployed from the pandemic, or maybe they’re just looking for a different pace. So it’s always really exciting to take that candidate, to get to know them, to find a good place for them that’s going to be a great person and job fit,” said Thomas.
So for the Christian family men, and all other workers searching for a change of pace in the jobs from the pandemic, Bendix is a place of hope.
