Bloodworth makes Panther history, signs with Campbellsville women’s wrestling

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – The week of college signings continued Friday morning at Russellville High School, where the Campbellsville University women’s wrestling squad welcomed its newest member, Madden Bloodworth.

Bloodworth made history for the Panthers in many ways, becoming the first wrestler to win a match in school history, male or female, and becoming the first wrestler in school history to earn a college scholarship for the sport.

She was a multisport athlete, also making history on the gridiron as the first female to score a point as Panther football’s kicker.

From the field to the mat, Bloodworth was a trailblazer for the school, and after signing with the Tigers, she shared what the legacy she leaves behind means to her.

“ It just means that I’m opening more opportunities for girls in the future, and I just hope that they can do better and new things, and I’m just starting it off for them,” Bloodworth said.

“I told them that it’s definitely going to be hard work, you just have to keep pushing yourself, and when you’re tired, you just have to get up and then go to practice, because that’s when you better yourself. Just keep pushing because there is someone out there that’s getting better than you each and every day.”
