GLASGOW, Ky. — Barren County High School Beta students qualified for national competition in every event they entered at their annual Leadership Summit.

Hope Campbell, a junior, was also selected to serve as a 2027 Beta Leadership Representative, the district says. Barren County Schools says she will run for national lead representative during the 2027 National Convention in Fort Worth, Texas. Senior Adeline Coleman serves as state president.

“We’re proud to see these students represent Barren County High School so well,” said Principal Letitia Hughes. “They’re learning how to lead, communicate, and collaborate, skills that will serve them well in life.”

Students qualifying for national competition include:

  • Being Better Betas: Maria Arenas, Makenlei Mowrey and Brady Neagle.
  • Collaboration Connection: Emilee Hamilton, Makenlei Mowrey, Ember Russell and Lillie Smith.
  • Project Proposal: Emilee Hamilton, Brady Neagle and Ember Russell.
  • Beta Blitz: Makenlei Mowrey, Zeke Palmer, Karisan Peters and Lillie Smith.

“These students put a lot of thought and effort into preparing for the summit, and it was exciting to see that work pay off in every event,” said Beta Sponsor Stephanie Jordan. “We’re looking forward to helping them build on their ideas as they prepare for nationals.”

The Kentucky Beta Leadership Summit brings Beta students from across the state together to strengthen their leadership and teamwork skills, the district says. Through leadership sessions and competitive challenges, Barren County Schools says students practice working toward shared goals and explore ways to serve their schools and communities.
