Barren County man accused of shooting neighbor

GLASGOW, Ky. – Deputies with the Barren County Sheriff’s Office arrived at 563 Garrets Hideout Road at 4 a.m. Monday after reports of a shooting.

Deputies said that Preston Ennis, 49, had shot a man in the torso, according to Ennis’ arrest citation..

Ennis wrecked his vehicle prior to the incident, and the man who was shot and the man’s girlfriend were attempting to help him home, according to the citation.

When the couple took Ennis back to his residence, deputies said Ennis got a handgun from the home and started shooting at the two, according to his citation..

Detectives found a large sum of money, marijuana, pills and drug paraphernalia, according to Ennis’ citation.

When being interviewed by sheriff’s deputies, Ennis said he had blacked out and had no memory of the shooting, according to the citation.

Ennis was charged with first-degree assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, trafficking in marijuana less than eight ounces, third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance first offense, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance first offense, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and first-degree wanton endangerment.
