A historic bridge in Bowling Green is getting a face lift

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A historic bridge in bowling green is getting a face lift.

The city of Bowling Green approved applying for a $1.6 million  grant on Tuesday that would be matched with $400,000  from the city. To rehab the iconic college street pedestrian bridge that crosses the barren river.

Public works director Greg Meredith said that while the bridge is still safe it is in need of maintenance which includes removing rust and replacing any parts that need to be replaced.

The city is also working on removing the led paint from the bridge and they have hired someone to make sure that the led paint won’t get into the water supply.

The city also received a national parks grant. The grant money will also be used to help give a much needed face lift to this Bowling Green landmark.
