Pothole season woes worry drivers
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – With snow making frequent stops in and out of Southcentral Kentucky, it’s that time of the year again that drivers dread – pothole season.
We’ve seen many of your social media posts wondering when the repairs will begin. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said that pothole-patching season is already starting up.
The cabinet said roads to look out for are older ones that pool water, because those water cracks will want to expand.
Drivers can expect the damage to worsen before the winter is done.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet district 3 public information officer Wes Watt said, “It’s very common during this time of year for potholes to form. That’s why we call it pothole patching season. We’re really at the start. It’s going to get worse the rest of the winter, and then come spring, we can really get out and make some permanent patches.”
Watt said the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet can only patch roads that are state routes. If you’re concerned about a neighborhood road, parking lot, city or county road, make sure to reach out to the correct people to make repairs.
