Accused Waffle House gunman to be committed to mental health facility
A Tennessee Judge has ordered accused Waffle House gunman Travis Reinking, to be committed to a mental health facility for treatment, to see if he can become competent to stand trial.
The Davidson County Judge ordered Reinking to be committed to a mental health facility on Wednesday, as he otherwise poses a threat to the public and himself. A doctor testified that Reinking has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, and is a danger to others but can be managed with medication. The judge said Reinking’s mental health status will be evaluated in six months.
This past April, Reinking allegedly opened fire at a Waffle House in Antioch, killing four people and injuring four others. Some of the survivors say that no matter what Reinking’s mental state is, they want justice to be served.
