Local bar owners prepare for severe weather on NYE
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – With severe weather making another unwelcome appearance tonight, will New Year’s celebrations get the axe? That’s the question News 40 asked local bar owners.
Gasper Brewing Company will host a benefit show from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. raising money for tornado damages.
After surviving the last tornadoes, they’re going into tonight with a game plan.
Gasper owner and head brewer Isaiah King said, “We looked at areas where there aren’t windows. These are the more secure areas down our hallways in our building in the area by the bathroom where we can get everybody to go in the event of severe weather.”
Also, Tidball’s has no plans to cancel their private party tonight, but despite relying on the building’s almost 200 year old structure to keep them safe, they’re taking steps to be vigilant as well.
Tidball’s part-owner Brian Jarvis said, “We definitely have a heightened sense of awareness with the incoming weather. So, we will have one TV on WNKY on Scott and Darius at all times, and we’ll watch Twitter feeds and have alarms set on our phones.”
So, whatever your plans are to welcome in 2022, keep one eye on the sky.
“Mother nature is strong,” said Jarvis. “So we should heed any warnings that we get.”
