Hosparus Health needs volunteers

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Hosparus Health of Barren River is in need of volunteers in in the area.

Hosparus Health provides hospice and palliative care to seriously ill patients and their families in their homes and healthcare.

Volunteers would spend their time with patients playing games, reading books and fellowshipping with people who may just need a friend.

Other volunteers may do administrative work inside of the offices for the non-profit.

Hosparus Health volunteers must be in good health, have available transportation and complete an application and training.

According to Jessica Byrd, the opportunity to befriend and love on someone during their time of need is rewarding.

“A lot of our patients might be be in a facility and not have anyone to visit with them so it’s it’s really meaningful for them for someone to come in and just listen to them, to let them tell their stories, hear about their life, make those connections, you might find out that you have things in common with them. It’s very meaningful for them and it just helps give them purpose at the end of life,” said Byrd.
