Warren Co. South Little League team three games away from World Series
WARREN COUNTY, Ky.- Throw. Hit. Catch.
The Warren County South Little League Baseball team is heading to the Regional Little League Tournament in Indianapolis this weekend after winning the state tournament.
“It feels amazing knowing that we won our district and state tournaments and we had to beat a bunch of good teams. I know that our team is good and that we are capable of winning this whole thing,” said second baseman Justin Capps.
Only three games stand between them and the Little League World Series with millions of eyes watching them on national television.
“Oh it’s a huge deal, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. You can only make this trip when you’re 12 years old so if you win the state championship like we did when you’re 10 that’s just kind of it. When you’re 11 that’s it, but when you’re 12 they provide you with the opportunity to go and then which puts the kids on ESPN every day which is really exciting for them,” said team manager Cary Page.
“I’m really excited, anxious, ready to go play,” said shortstop and pitcher Camden Page.
“I’m expecting to see really good teams but not teams that we can’t beat,” said Right Fielder Bryant Rogers.
“I’m very excited to represent Bowling Green. I’ve been wanting to do this for 2-3 years now since we won state my 10-year-old year. It’s gonna be a really fun time,” said first baseman Lucas Peterson.
No matter the outcome of next weekend, it’s an amazing feat in itself.
“The most important thing that you keep in mind for these kids is that they’re 12. It’s a lot of pressure, they’re going to be on TV for the first time, they’re nervous about it, it’s exciting, but you wanna take the pressure off them, let them be kids, let them have fun and let them do what they do because they’re really good baseball players, so hopefully whatever they do on the field will translate over and just keep giving them more success,” said Cary Page.
