Bowling Green Freedom Walkers will be hosting their 2nd Annual Back to School Block Party

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Bowling Green Freedom Walkers is hosting their 2nd Annual Back to School Block Party this weekend.

On Saturday, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. the BG Freedom Walkers will be at the Parker Bennett Center basketball courts with free school supplies.

The event will also feature some fun and exciting games activities for kids to enjoy and free hot dogs.

There will also be a free backpack giveaway at the event as well.

Karika Nelson, the founder, and Nacarius Fant, the cofounder of the Bowling Green Freedom Walkers, say the event will be great for all kids and was put together as an effort to help ease the stress of purchasing school supplies on local parents.

“For the parents that might be struggling a little bit this year or just do the pandemic, they might not have a job. We want to help our youth so that they have the utensils and items that they need for school and supplies and backpacks,” said Nelson.

“I was part of this neighborhood when I was little, so it allows me to, myself personally, be with the group now and you know bring some positivity to those kids to make sure those kids are well prepared for when they go back to school,” said Fant.
