Former Hot Rods’ star Wander Franco shines in MLB Debut

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – America’s past-time is taking center stage in the world of sports, and the star of the show happens to be a former Bowling Green Hot Rods star, who also ranks as Major League Baseball’s top prospect.

On Tuesday night, Wander Franco was welcomed into the MLB and even with sky high expectations entering the game, the young man didn’t disappoint.

Franco batted 2nd in the Rays order and showed his wide range of skills throughout the 11-inning contest.

The 20-year old’s first big league performance was highlighted by a 5th inning at bat, in which he launched a 3-run home run off Red Sox’ starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez to tie the game up at 5-5.

Wander Franco would finish the night 2-4 with 3 RBI, 2 runs, and a double to go with his first career home run.

Hot Rods General Manager and COO Eric Leach just happened to be in Tampa for a work-related trip to meet with Rays officials and was in the building to witness it first-hand.

When asked to describe Franco’s performance, Leach said, “That’s just Wander being Wander and that’s why he’s the No. 1 prospect. He thrives in these high-pressure, high-stress situations that most people crumble under…. There’s something unique about Wander and his ability and his talent, and I’m excited to see it shine up there.”
