SRX made-for-TV racing series debuts with Indy 500 winner

Tony Stewart’s all-star racing series will finally launch Saturday night with a current superstar in the field. Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves will be in the inaugural 12-driver field when Superstar Racing Experience goes green at Stafford Speedway in Connecticut. SRX is the brainchild of Stewart and fellow NASCAR Hall of Famer Ray Evernham. The series is for former greats who still have the skills to compete and square off in identically prepared cars at six of America’s classic short tracks. They never expected they’d have the Indy 500 winner less than two weeks after Castroneves won his fourth 500.
