PDRA drag racing series gears up at Beech Bend Raceway

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The PDRA drag racing series is rolling into Bowling Green for the first time ever, and Broc Porter, track manager at Beech Bend Raceway, cannot wait.

“It means a lot to us that they think enough about Beech Bend raceway that they think we’re worthy enough to host one of their national events and we’re excited to have them in town for the first time ever,” said Porter.

Over 250 cars from all over the country will be coming to the normally east coast-based event.

“This is their furthest West coast event, they’re spreading into this area, it’s an exciting heads-up drag racing series, featuring 200 mile an hour pro-nods, top dragster, top sportsman, a lot of fast cars, they do run junior dragsters for the kids,” said Porter.

Tyler Crossnoe, series director, said they chose Bowling Green for its auto friendly vibe.

“The vibe of the city, the facility here, just everybody involved in Bowling Green, and it’s an awesome area. Fans and racers alike all enjoy this place and for us that’s what we shoot for a facility that we hold our series at,” said Crossnoe.

The event will bring in hundreds of tourists from around the country to watch the main attraction, and racers as well. This brings revenue to the local hospitality and restaurant business.

“It’s always great for tourism because the participants they’re staying in our hotels, eating in our restaurants, and they’re fueling up locally. So you feel it across all aspects of the local economy. And typically these racers enjoy coming to Bowling Green. This isn’t an inaugural event but hopefully it’ll be the first of many for them to come back to Beech Bend,” said Convention of Tourism and Visitors Bureau Communications Director Beth Noffsinger.
