Asian shares gain despite virus worries; China exports rise

TOKYO (AP) — Asian shares are mostly higher with hopes growing for a global economic rebound even as coronavirus cases surge in many places. Shares rose Tuesday across the region. China reported its exports rose nearly 31% in March, in line with expectations but weaker than the 60% growth seen in the first two months of the year. Wall Street ended just below the latest record highs the benchmarks hit last week as technology companies slipped. Investors are continuing to focus on the economic recovery as well as concerns about inflation and rising bond yields. Earnings season is also coming up, and some players are feeling hopeful about how financial results may highlight future growth.
