Franklin, Tenn. man accused of leading police on high-speed chase
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kentucky State Police arrested a Franklin, Tenn. man Monday morning following a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 65 through Warren County.
State police attempted to stop a 2012 Nissan driven by Joel Panhalker, 18, on a speeding violation, according to his arrest citation. Panhalker is accused of driving across multiple lanes of traffic, speeding over 100 miles per hour and forcing another driver off of the road by side swiping his vehicle.
Troopers twice used tire deflation devices to stop the car. The second time the devices were used, the car was disabled.
Police said they saw a plastic bag of suspected marijuana and three small jars of what appeared to be marijuana wax, according to his citation.
Panhalker told police he didn’t know why he ran from them.
He was charged with reckless driving, first-degree criminal mischief, possession of marijuana, speeding 26 miles per hour or more over the limit, first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer.
He was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail.
