Man accused of punching Cave City police officer

CAVE CITY, Ky. – Saturday afternoon, the Cave City Police Department responded to a call on Reynolds Street for a domestic incident.

According to a release, Terry M. Thomas came outside the residence when three officers arrived, swore at police and refused to follow commands to show his hands that he had behind his back.

Officers approached Thomas on the front porch, where police said Thomas grabbed an officer’s ballistics vest with both hands, and struck the officer on the face, according to the release.

After a short struggle, officers were able to take Thomas into custody.

According to the release, Thomas had attempted to set a roll of paper towels on fire inside the house trailer. 

Officers located the burnt roll of paper towels and the box of wooden matches used to light the paper towels.

Terry Thomas was charged with third-degree assault of a police officer,  fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), first-degree arson, first-degree wanton endangerment and alcohol intoxication, according to the release. 

Thomas was lodged in the Barren County Jail.
