WKU COVID-19 update following small outbreak
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Western Kentucky University representatives are speaking up about the importance of quarantining upon testing positive for COVID-19.
After a recent outbreak lead to 29 students under quarantine with about half testing positive for the virus, according to Bob Skipper, the media relations director at WKU, the school is reminding students the importance of following CDC guidelines.
School representatives believe the outbreak may have been caused by a student who chose not to quarantine after testing positive, but that has not been confirmed.
Skipper says refusal to quarantine at the school could lead to disciplinary action up to expulsion.
A group gathering may have contributed to the spread and increased the number of contacts, according to Skipper.
