Live performances scheduled to return to Edmonton stage

EDMONTON, Ky. – According to a press release, the Barn Lot Theater in Edmonton will return to the stage in the Metcalfe County Middle School auditorium October 23-25.
They will present skits from the Carol Burnett Show including “Went With the Breeze,” “The Old Folks,” “As the Stomach Turns,” “Alice Portnoy” and more.
Director of Marketing Austin Coffey stated, “We are excited to be able to present performances this year despite our current health crisis. While not in our theater on our stage, we are able to return to our roots and let our creativity shine. What a better time to do this than our 40th year of operation and During National Arts and Humanities Month. We have been working diligently with local authorities to develop a plan that will allow us to present performances safely for audience members and actors.”
He continues, “In the history of television, The Carol Burnett Show has become one of the most popular and enduring comedy variety shows of all time. The sketches, jokes and parodies that are as funny now as they were 40 years ago.”
Performances will be October 23, 24 and 25 at 7pm. Admission is $10 per person. Social distancing and masks will be required. The event is a fundraiser for Barn Lot Theater and is not included in season tickets.
Later in the year “Steel Magnolias” will be presented at the Metcalfe Middle School auditorium as well. Show dates are December 4, 5 and 5. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 7pm, Sunday at 2pm. Like the October performances, social distancing and masks will be required. These performances will also serve as fundraisers for Barn Lot Theater and are not included in season tickets.
About “Steel Magnolias,” Coffee states, “The action is set in Truvy’s beauty salon in Louisiana, where all the ladies who are ‘anybody’ come to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant, Annelle, the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town’s rich curmudgeon, Ouiser; an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee, who has a raging sweet tooth; and the local social leader, M’Lynn, whose daughter Shelby is about to marry a ‘good old boy.’ Filled with hilarious repartee and not a few acerbic but humorously revealing verbal collisions, the play moves toward tragedy deeply revealing of the strength that binds these women together.”
Tickets for both performances are $10 and may be purchased online at the Barn Lot Theater website or by calling 270-432-BARN.
