UN agency urges help for Banksy-sponsored migrant ship
LONDON (AP) — The United Nations refugee agency is urging European countries to allow in hundreds of migrants picked up off the Mediterranean Sea by humanitarian boats — including one sponsored by street artist Banksy. The UNHCR and the International Organization of Migration said more than 200 rescued refugees and migrants are in urgent need of transfer from the search-and-rescue ship MV Louise Michel. The ship is sponsored by renowned street artist Banksy, who released a video Saturday on Instagram confirming his involvement in the operation. The subversive artist stated “All Black Lives Matter.” The plea from UNHCR and IOM also mentioned hundreds of migrants on two other charity ships who were in urgent need of finding safe harbor.
