Don’t feed Fido the leftover turkey
It’s officially the day after Thanksgiving and many of you probably have plenty of leftovers in your fridge.
But before you consider feeding them to your pets, read this.
Many people let their pets have a taste of the Thanksgiving feast without realizing the potential dangers.
Many of those traditional Thanksgiving dishes can make your dog sick.
Stuffing is typically made with onions or garlic, which are extremely toxic to dogs.
Ham can also cause a variety of health issues for your furry friend, including pancreatitis and vomiting.
Grapes and raisins that are typically served on salads at many Thanksgiving dinners can potentially lead to kidney failure.
And of course, chocolate deserts are a big no for your pets.
Dr. Don Denton, a local Veterinarian at Westgate Veterinary Hospital, told WNKY what you can do to keep your pet healthy and avoid a costly vet bill this holiday season.
“Really we prefer they eat the formulated food, rather than table food. We frown upon that because we got chicken bones, turkey bones, and things like that, that we always have problems with,” said Denton.
The best advice is to save the Thanksgiving leftovers for the fridge and not the dog bowl.
