Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team helps rescue Morgan County hiker

MORGAN COUNTY, Ky. – The Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team rescued a hiker in Morgan County Tuesday morning.
At around 1:30 a.m., the team says it received a request from Morgan County Rescue to help extract a female hiker who had gone missing the day prior.
Three Morgan County SAR members initially located the hiker, but rescuers say the terrain made extraction unsafe, causing the team to call WCSART for a high-angle rescue operation.
When they arrived, WCSART members say they deployed a high-angle rope system to safely extract the hiker from a 100-foot, terraced cliff face. The cliff presented challenges, including three vertical sections and heavy vegetation, the team says.
WCSART members say they cautiously used the rope system to safely extract the hiker, along with Morgan County SAR members.
The rescue concluded successfully at around 6 a.m.
