Death investigation underway after body found in Cave City

CAVE CITY, Ky. – An investigation is underway after a body was reportedly found in Cave City on Tuesday.

According to Chief Paul Reynolds with the Cave City Police Department, law enforcement responded shortly before 2 p.m. to the area of White Street and Curd Lane after farmers located a body on scene.

Upon arrival, police say they found the body in the middle of a corn field. Authorities say the individual is suspected to be John Adwell, a man reported missing since Sept. 3.

The Cave City Police Department tells WNKY News 40 that clothing at the scene matches Adwell’s description.

The body is scheduled for an autopsy at 6 a.m. Wednesday in Louisville, according to Reynolds, and those results are pending.

An identity has not been released. Reynolds says there is no suspicion of foul play at this time.

Cave City police were assisted by Barren-Metcalfe 911, Barren-Metcalfe EMS, the Kentucky State Police, the Cave City Fire Department, Barren County Emergency Management and the Barren County Coroner’s Office.
