Bowling Green resident receives national award for advocating for American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network

WASHINGTON – Bowling Green resident Kim Lindgren received the State Lead Ambassador of the Year (SLA) Award at the national awards dinner for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) in Washington, D.C., Sunday night for her contribution to making cancer a national priority.

Each year, the award goes to a lead volunteer who organizes, maintains and leads a statewide network of ambassadors and campaigns.

Lisa Lacasse, president of ACS CAN, said Lindgren’s efforts have made a large difference in advocating against cancer nationwide.

“She has helped advance policies that protect patients and families, creating meaningful change that reaches far beyond Kentucky,” said Lacasse. “We celebrate Kim for her leadership and the inspiration she brings to our nationwide network of volunteers.”

Lindgren joined ACS CAN in 2012 after she lost her mother in a battle with breast cancer.
