WKU Player of the Week: soccer defender Abby Wiedermann

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Our latest WKU Player of the Week winner is soccer defender Abby Wiedermann!

The Hilltoppers went 2-0 during their trip to Chicago this past week and the junior was a big reason for that.

Wiedermann anchored the team’s back line, playing all 180 minutes for Western.

She helped limit DePaul and UIC to just seven combined shots on goal and although the opposing offenses might’ve slipped through the cracks a couple times, none of those were able to get past WKU goalkeeper Mia Riddick.

The team is unbeaten through seven games, something the program hasn’t accomplished since the 2008 season.

Wiedermann brought home Conference USA Defender of the Week honors and will look to keep the lockdown defense rolling on Sunday evening when the Tops travel to Lipscomb University.
