Nashville man charged with fleeing police in Simpson County

FRANKLIN, Ky. – A Nashville, Tennessee man is accused of fleeing law enforcement in Simpson County on Sunday.

According to a uniform citation, early Sunday morning, a Simpson County deputy attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle for unconfirmed insurance at the intersection of Groves Lane and Nashville Road.

Authorities say the vehicle failed to stop, continuing on Nashville Road and entering Sumner County, Tennessee.

Deputies say the vehicle crossed the intersection of Highway 109 in Sumner County before stopping at a BP gas station at U.S. 31-W and Highway 109.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 52-year-old Ricky Mason of Nashville, authorities say. Deputies say Mason had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages.

Portland police assisted at the stop, according to authorities, where they say Mason resisted arrest.

Mason was arrested and transnported to the Simpson County Detention Center.

According to authorities, Mason was transported to The Medical Center at Franklin for a blood test after refusing a breath test.

Mason was taken back to the Simpson County Detention Center, where he has since been released.

He faces charges of first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and resisting arrest.
