Attorney General’s Office announces peer support services for law enforcement, local agency receives grant
COVINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman announced the “Stand by the Badge” to support law enforcement officers’ mental health Wednesday.
According to a release, the Attorney General’s Office launched a secure website for law enforcement across the state to access peers and resources “to support them mentally, spiritually, and financially.” A toolkit for officers has also been created.
Eight law enforcement agencies were awarded grant funds to use for peer support services, according to the release. The agencies will receive $5,000 for expenses including overtime for peer support specialists, training and education for peer support and wellness, and equipment for the teams.
Among those awarded is the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. WCSO will utilize the funds to establish a peer support team and provide mental health training.
