Man’s charges amended in Pulaski County death case

PULASKI COUTNY, Ky. – An adult male’s charges were amended down Wednesday in a case that has also charged three teens in connection with the death of a Pulaski County woman.
According to court records, 20-year-old McCoy Chaney of Somerset, who was intially charged with murder, first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary, had those charges amended down during a preliminary hearing Wednesday afternoon at Pulaski District Court.
Chaney is now instead facing charges of complicity to murder, complicity to first-degree robbery and complicity to first-degree burglary, court records state.
According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Bobby Jones says the arrests are related to the death of 70-year-old Sherri Mitko, who was found dead at her home on Lower Line Creek Road on Aug. 12.
Authorities say a preliminary report stated Mitko died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Two teen boys are currently charged with murder in the investigation, and one other teen boy is charged with complicity to commit murder, authorities say.
