1 man, 3 teens charged in connection with Pulaski County woman’s death

PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. – Authorities say a fourth person has been arrested in connection with a reported homicide that occurred on Aug. 12 in Pulaski County.

According to Sheriff Bobby Jones with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, the fourth person arrested, a teen boy, is charged with complicity to commit murder.

Authorities say the victim, 70-year-old Sherri Mitko, was found dead in her residence on Lower Line Creek Road. According to authorities, Mitko had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

During the investigation, the sheriff’s office states it has been assisted by the Central Kentucky Fugitive Task Force, the Somerset Police Department and Appalachia HIDTA.

PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. – Authorities say three arrests have been made in connection with a homicide investigation in Pulaski County.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Bobby Jones says the arrests are related to the death of 70-year-old Sherri Mitko, who was found dead at her home on Lower Line Creek Road on Aug. 12.

Jones says the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities say 20-year-old McCoy Chaney of Somerset has been charged with murder, first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary.

In addition, Jones says on Aug. 16, two teen boys were charged with murder in the investigation.

Chaney was arrested without incident and lodged at the Pulaski County Detention Center, where he remains on a $1.5 million cash bond, authorities say.

During this investigation, the sheriff’s office says it has been assisted by the Central Kentucky Fugitive Task Force, the Somerset Police Department and Appalachia HIDTA.

PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. – Authorities say they are investigating a homicide in Pulaski County.

According to a social media post by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Bobby Jones stated the Criminal Investigation Division is conducting an investigation on Lower Line Creek Road.

Deputies say at about 12:10 a.m., they responded for a welfare check at this location. Upon arrival, deputies say they found 70-year-old Sherri Mitko dead in a home.

Authorities say a preliminary report stated Mitko died from multiple gunshot wounds. According to the sheriff’s office, an autopsy was performed on the morning of Aug. 12 in Frankfort.

The investigation is ongoing. Detectives say they are pursuing leads and have identified a person of interest.
