Bowling Green man arrested after allegedly texting while driving under the influence
SMITHS GROVE, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is behind bars after allegedly texting while driving under the influence Saturday.
According to a uniform citation, Smiths Grove police observed a driver texting while traveling south on North Main Street. Authorities say heavy traffic was in the area during this time.
Police say they stopped the vehicle in a parking lot off of Smiths Grove Scottsville Road.
Acording to police, when asked why he was swaying in his lane, 47-year-old Warren Blevins of Bowling Green stated he had been texting on his phone. Police say they could smell the odor of alcoholic beverages coming from Blevins.
Blevins was transported to the Warren County Regional Jail, where authorities say a breath test measured at .330.
Blevins was then transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for medical clearance before being taken back to jail for incarceration.
He faces charges of communication device violation, failure to or improper signal, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, second offense, failure to produce an insurance card and operating on a suspended or revoked operators license.
