Steel Across America display stops in Bowling Green in remembrance of Sept. 11

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Tunnel to Tower Foundation’s Steel Across America display is bringing remembrance across the country, including in Bowling Green on Friday.
According to the Bowling Green Police Department, Capt. Robbie Perry spotted the display earlier Friday off of Scottsville Road.
The department says the display carries a steel beam salvaged from the South Tower of the World Trade Center and is making its way across the country ahead of the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.
The display serves “as a powerful reminder of the 2,977 lives lost that day, those we have lost in the years since as a result of 9/11-related illnesses and the countless people who answered the call to help others in a moment of unimaginable tragedy,” the department stated.
Bowling Green police further stated, “From firefighters and police officers who ran toward danger to the everyday people who simply stopped to help a stranger, their courage, sacrifice and service will never be forgotten.”
