Kentucky League of Cities honors four local lawmakers

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WNKY) — Four Bowling Green lawmakers were honored by the Kentucky League of Cities for their work during the latest legislative session.
Reps. Kevin Jackson, Michael Meredith and Robert Duvall, along with Sen. Mike Wilson, received KLC awards during Tuesday night’s Bowling Green City Commission meeting.
KLC says the four lawmakers helped advance legislation important to cities across Kentucky. The organization also said it was the first time it could recall every legislator from a larger city delegation receiving an award in the same year.
Jackson and Wilson were recognized in part for their work on House Bill 189, which dealt with pedestrian safety.
Meredith sponsored House Bill 392, which changed local government procurement rules. The measure raised the small-purchase threshold.
Duvall sponsored House Bill 462, which sought to make a tax increment financing provision permanent by removing a sunset date from state law. The bill did not advance out of committee. However, KLC credited Duvall with continuing to work on the issue during the final days of the session.
