Sean Astin to visit Bowling Green to help raise money for Down Syndrome of Southern Kentucky
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Down Syndrome of Southern Kentucky has secured a visit from Sean Astin for a dinner fundraiser coming up in October.
Sean Astin is famous for his roles in “The Lord of the Rings,” “The Goonies,” “Stranger Things” and more.
Proceeds from the event will go into the general funds budget for the Buddy House here locally as it saves for a new, larger building to go up tentatively in the next year.
During his visit to Bowling Green, Astin will deliver the evening’s keynote address, sharing stories and insights from his life, career and advocacy.
“I was just super excited because obviously growing up in the ’80s, as a child of the ’80s, remembering “The Goonies,” which is such a legendary movie and then “Rudy” and then “Lord of the Rings” and “Stranger Things,” it’s like every decade, he’s been an actor since the ’80s and been important in the community, and so the opportunity to bring him to Bowling Green is absolutely huge. It’s going to be a great event and we just encourage folks to come out,” said Eric Leach, president of the Board at DSSKY.
General admission tickets are $75, with VIP Meet-and-Greet tickets available for $150.
Tickets and additional information are available at dssky.org.
