WKU instructor appointed to the national FCCLA Board of Directors
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Angela Gott, an instructor for the WKU Department of Applied Human Sciences, has been appointed to the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America National Board of Directors for the 2026-28 term.
Gott will serve as Communications and Membership Committee Chair on the FCCLA Board of Directors and is the LEAD Family and Consumer Science Education Representative.
In her new role, Gott will strengthen the F.C.S. education pipeline across Kentucky between WKU and FCCLA, which will benefit students.
Her work focuses on preparing future FCS educators, strengthening the profession and expanding opportunities for students.
FCCLA is a national Career and Technical Student Organization for students in Family and Consumer Sciences education.
This is actually her second time serving on this board but under a different role.
Gott says the family and consumer sciences was originally called home economics, but the name was changed in 1999.
She says it is the only student-led organization with family as its center.
“Some of us, much to our dismay, have seen ‘bring back home economics,’ and we would like for everyone to see that we are here and we are still growing strong. We have so much to offer to our students,” said Gott.
Gott would like to see the organization grow, as it has been hitting 270,000 members across the nation.
“Regardless of what career a student is going into, FCCLA has a segment that they would be interested in. They have an opportunity to network with individuals all over the nation. They are able to really hone those particular skills that they’re interested in. There is something for every student regardless of their interest,” Gott said.
The first meeting of the semester will be held this upcoming week in Washington, D.C.
