Final Block Party of the summer at H.D. Carpenter Park

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Bowling Green Parks and Recreation partnered with The Bowling Green Fire and Police departments for their final block party of the season at H.D. Carpenter Park on Thursday.

The block party is meant to spark positive connections between residents and first responders while utilizing local parks. 

The event was free for all families, filling the park with games, food and fun.

Organizers spoke on the impact the summer block parties have made on the community and first responders.

“It gets people out of their homes, off the streets, coming to a community space and getting to know one another, getting to know their neighbors, getting to know their city employees, their public servants,” said recruiting Sgt. Brad Hogue. “It’s important for all public servants to get to know the people they serve and the people in the community to know them. From a police perspective, it’s even more important because it humanizes us. It lets people know that, hey, the police are no different than anybody.”

The Bowling Green Police Department said that although this was the last block party of the summer, it has several more events planned to spend time with the community in the future.

Officials plan to bring back park block parties in 2027.
