Greenwood celebrates completion of $52 million renovation

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Greenwood High School held its ribbon-cutting ceremony to showcase new improvements to the district’s facilities.

The school underwent an intensive, multi-phase, $52 million renovation over a nine-year span.

Upgrades to the district include a new media center, gymnasium, athletic facility, traffic flow system, improved flooring and eliminated lockers.

Chris McIntyre, the CFO and COO of Warren County Public Schools, spoke on the importance of recognizing long-term sustainability for each school building in order to enhance the learning experience for each student for generations to come.

“The old building, the original 1988 built for 6.7 million dollars, give a dollar or two, is still functioning here,” McIntyre said. “It’s just we’ve encompassed it, surrounded it with a lot of new features and upgrades to hopefully bring it up to what our students need for 21st-century learning.”

Students will get to experience the new halls Aug. 12 when the school year starts.
