1 dead after motorcycle crash in Letcher County

LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. – One man is dead following a motorcycle crash in Letcher County on Wednesday. 

According to the Kentucky State Police, the collision happened in the Linefork community of Letcher County at approximately 5:37 p.m. 

Troopers and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene on KY-1103.

Authorities say preliminary investigations reveal that Charles Bentley, a 67-year-old resident of Linefork, was operating a motorcycle that veered off the roadway and struck a tree.

Both Bentley and his female passenger received initial treatment at the scene before being flown to Johnson City Medical Center for serious injuries.

On Friday, July 31, authorities were informed by the Washington County Medical Examiner’s Office that Bentley had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

An autopsy has been scheduled, and toxicology results are pending. 

Both occupants were wearing helmets at the time of the crash. 

The investigation is ongoing.
