Local humane society extends ‘Empty the Shelters’ amid multi-state beagle rescue
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society is extending Bissell Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters to offer discounted adoptions amid a multi-state beagle rescue.
The humane society says it received an urgent call Friday from the Bissell Pet Foundation about a beagle breeder in middle Tennessee that surrendered dozens of dogs for them to find proper care.
Despite being on the brink of Code Red and with its kennels full, the humane society says it couldn’t leave the dogs behind.
The rescue team is bringing 20 beagles back on Friday.
According to the humane society, the animals were loved and well cared for, overall showing signs of being healthy, friendly and packed with a “classic, sweet beagle personality.”
Rescuers say once the dogs arrive, they will receive “full medical vetting, vaccinations and spay/neuter surgeries” before heading to forever families.
Due to the current shelter capacity, rescuers are urging the community to consider adopting animals currently at the shelter to make room.
To help make this happen, Bill Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters is being extended to Sunday, Aug. 9.
Adult adoption fees are just $25 and babies under 4 months are $50. This special offer applies dogs, cats, and critters.
