The Logan County School System celebrates Bem Kemplin’s 33 year career as an educator

RUSSELVILLE, Ky. – The Logan County School System celebrated the retirement of Assistant Superintendent Ben Kemplin.

The school system commemorated Kemplin’s 33-year career as an educator, 28 of those being as a Logan County Cougar . 

Throughout Kemplin’s career he spent five years in the classroom, 16 as a principal of Olstead Elementary, 11 years as Human Resource Director as the and the remainder as assistant superintendent.

He said his favorite part of being an educator was the memories and relationships he built during his time as the principal of Olmstead School.

Those who worked with him said what they will remember most are his intelligence, infectious laughter, and positive attitude.

“Ben Kemplin has a wealth of knowledge of the Logan County community—the different streets where people live and how we can benefit certain areas. So, to lose that wealth of knowledge of the Logan County area, we are going to miss it,” said Logan County Supervisor of Instruction Kayleigh Davenport. “I know that he is only a phone call away, and we are also going to miss his wit. He is very funny. He brings humor to every situation. So, he will be greatly missed in Logan County.”

Kemplin’s official last day is July 31, but he plans to continue his role as the Logan County coroner and intends to run for reelection when his term expires.
