Tri-County Electric Membership Corporation warns of phone scam

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – Tri-County Electric Membership Corporation, located in Scottsville, is warning its members about scam calls.
The corporation says members reported receiving phone calls stating they have not paid their bill and will have power disconnected if no payment is made immediately.
According to Tri-County Electric, the calls are sometimes spoofing the company’s caller ID, meaning the call shows up as coming from Tri-County Electric. However, this is a scam.
Tri-County Electric says the scammers may give a call back number as well.
If you receive this call, the company says to hang up and check your bill by calling 1-800-369-2111.
Tri-County Electric says its team will never contact members asking for payment or for personal information. The company says it recommends for members to contact local law enforcement regarding any solicitation for personal details.
