Tennessee man charged with drug trafficking in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Tennessee man is facing drug trafficking-related charges in Bowling Green.
According to a uniform citation, on Thursday night, the Bowling Green Police Department saw a vehicle with no headlights or taillights on while traveling near Morgantown Road.
Authorities say the vehicle then almost ran off of the road.
Due to active severe weather and the driving seen, police say they conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.
Authorities say the driver, 21-year-old Anthony Thompson of Gallatin, Tennessee, exited the vehicle immediately and began yelling.
According to the citation, before Thompson’s actions could escalate, he was detained.
Police say a strong odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle, leading to a search.
Authorities say they found a handgun, along with a scale, a phone, suspected MDMA pills and multiple sealed bags of marijuana.
Thompson remains at the Warren County Regional Jail on charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, trafficking in marijuana, less than 8 ounces, first offense, drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, operating on a suspended or revoked operators license, license to be in possession, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, failure to illuminate headlamps and reckless driving.
