5 arrested on drug charges in Pike County

BELFRY, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police has arrested five individuals on drug charges following a traffic stop in Pike County.
According to the Kentucky State Police, authorities seized a large amount of suspected illegal drugs during the stop on June 25.
Troopers and investigators with the Kentucky State Police say they conducted a traffic stop on two vehicles believed to be traveling together in the Belfry community of Pike County.
Authorities say they learned the vehicles were involved in transporting illegal drugs into Pike County.
According to troopers, one vehicle was occupied by Howard Burris, Carnell Archey and and Zavion McCallister, all from Akron, Ohio, while a second vehicle contained Isaac Chapman and Caltlin Griffith, both of Pike County.
Authorities say both vehicles were towed for a follow up search.
During this time, troopers say they located suspected illegal drugs in the driver and passenger side door frames in the vehicle driven by Chapman.
The investigation resulted in the seizure of around 2 pounds, 7 ounces of suspected methamphetamine and about 2.5 ounces of suspected fentanyl, authorities say.
The following individuals were arrested and charged in connection with the investigation:
- Howard Burris, 20, of Ohio, was arrested and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center on charges of first-degree operating a motor vehicle under the influence, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, (methamphetamine), trafficking in a controlled substance (fentanyl) and other traffic related violations.
- Carnell Archey, 24, of Ohio, was arrested and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center on charges of public intoxication, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine), trafficking in a controlled substance (fentanyl), and failure to wear a seatbelt.
- Zavion McCallister, 23, of Ohio, was arrested and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center on charges of public intoxication, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine), and trafficking in a controlled substance (fentanyl).
- Isaac Chapman, 28, of Pikeville, was arrested and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center on charges of first-degree operating a motor vehicle under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine), trafficking in a controlled substance (fentanyl), and other traffic related violations.
- Caitlin Griffith, 27, of Pikeville, was arrested and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine), and trafficking in a controlled substance (fentanyl).
