Grayson County man accused of pouring gasoline on another man, threatens to set him on fire

LEITCHFIELD, Ky. – A Falls of Rough man is accused of pouring gasoline on another man and threatening to set the victim on fire.
According to a uniform citation, the Leitchfield Police Department responded to McDonald’s at 714 S Main Street to reports of an altercation Sunday evening.
Police say two men were in a verbal argument inside the lobby. 66-year-old John Richard Mims, of Falls of Rough, who was involved in the argument, allegedly walked to his vehicle and returned with a bottle containing suspected gasoline.
Mims allegedly poured suspected gasoline inside the victim’s mouth, face and body and threatened to set him on fire.
Officers say Mims told them that he did not set the victim on fire “because it would have hurt other people and the restaurant,” according to the citation.
During the investigation, officers located a lighter in Mims’ possession and suspected gasoline in a bottle in a compartment of his motorcycle.
Mims was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment. He was transported to the Grayson County Detention Center. He is no longer listed as an active inmate.
The investigation is ongoing.
