Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library celebrates 110 Years of service to Barren County

GLASGOW, Ky. — The Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library celebrated a major milestone Friday, marking 110 years of serving the Glasgow and Barren County community.

The anniversary celebration featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, cake, crafts and a special display highlighting the library’s history and impact over the past century.

Community members gathered throughout the day to reflect on the library’s legacy as a place for learning, connection and discovery while celebrating its continued role in the community.

Library Director, Ami Sandell, said the anniversary is a testament to the library’s lasting presence and importance.

“We’re very proud of being here and available for that long, and we’re more than just a building with books,” Sandell said. “For a century we’ve been a place to learn, a place to grow, a place to gather. So we have a lot to be proud of with that.”

Founded in 1916, the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library has provided generations of residents with access to books, educational resources, programs and community events.

Library officials said they are grateful for the support they have received over the years and look forward to continuing to serve Glasgow and Barren County for generations to come.
