Man charged with vehicular homicide after fatal crash on Girkin Road

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – One man is charged with vehicular homicide after a fatal crash occurred on Girkin Road last week.

According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, at 5:27 p.m. on May 25, deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 500 block of Girkin Road.

Authorities say the vehicle was driving south when it left the road and struck a tree.

Deputies say the driver, identified as 39-year-old Onrico Wilson of Bowling Green, and a front passenger, identified as Robert Wilson, were both entrapped.

Authorities say the three other occupants were able to be removed with some assistance from the Bowling Green Fire Department and were transported to the Louisville and Nashville area hospitals for injuries.

Once extricated, Onrico and Robert were flown to Louisville for treatment. Robert Wilson later died due to his injuries.

Deputies on scene suspected alcohol involvement and believed the driver was impaired, according to the sheriff’s office.

As a result, Onrico was released from the medical treatment facility and was subsequently arrested Wednesday morning.

He faces charges of vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol, first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substance, second offense.

He remains at the Warren County Regional Jail.
